Edie is One Month Old!

Our little baby was born one month ago. One full moon ago, actually. The midwives told me after she was born that the Wolf Moon and the shift in weather beckoned a lot of babies that night. This week, Edie discovered her hand and is learning to love the bouncy seat. As a birthday present to me, Will spent the night on a twin mattress in the nursery so that I could get a little extra shut-eye. I got a total of 6 hours spliced over three intervals. And I feel fantastic!!

In the apartment below us, our landlords are expecting their first baby any minute now. A little boy who is now five days over due. So Edie is about to become the big kid on the block. The full moon is back in town, so good luck to Tanya and Robert!

  3. Congratulations on this achievement! I remember with both kids that in 6 weeks it really felt like the troubles of earliest of babyhood was behind us, and then another milestone at 3 months, then it felt like I was recognising myself again and my baby was no longer a fragile porcelain doll.

  4. Jen, you will love her. Agusta, well put. I only want to add that Edie works very hard at mastering the skill of bringing her hand to her mouth and into it. She's had several successful attempts but still in need of more practice.
At one point she got her thumb into her mouth and was very surprised. Another time, she got the front of her fist, sucked, sucked, then screamed the kind of scream you hear from folks who have been cheated. She had so much hope that she could handle this feeding business without waiting for her helpers and then, no, it was a big jip.
